MSLU is a new member of the Association of Russian and Japanese universities
The III General Assembly of the Association of Universities of Russia and Japan and the IX Forum of Rectors of Russian and Japanese Universities took place on September 16 online. MSLU became a new member of the Association of Russian and Japanese universities. Our rector Irina Krayeva thanked the Assembly for the honour.Thus, the Association numbers 63 universities, namely 33 Russian and 30 Japanese higher education institutions.

Arrival in Russia by Foreign Students

Starting September 1, 2021, students from ALL countries are permitted to enter Russia for on-site learning with the purpose of "УЧЕБА” (studies), regardless of whether or not Russia has resumed air traffic with the student's home country.

MSLU among Top Ranking Universities of the World
On August 31, 2021, the Three University Missions Moscow International University Ranking (MosIUR, or the Moscow ranking) released a list of top 1650 universities in the world, with MSLU ranking within the 1201-1300 band. Among Russian universities MSLU entered the ranking within the 51-62 range.

MSLU Online Summer School of Russian Language and Culture 2021
From 2 to 15 August, students from Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, China, France, South Africa attended MSLU Online Summer School of Russian Language and Culture.

MSLU participates in the terminology project of the European Parliament
In January 2021 MSLU started cooperation with the Terminology Coordination Department of the Directorate General of the European Parliament.

MSLU at Translation Forum Russia
From 30 July to 1 August, 2021 one of the biggest European translation forums “Translation Forum Russia” was held in Nizhniy Novgorod. In the Russian translation industry the forum became one of the most anticipated events of 2021, especially due to the fact that it was held offline.

Summer Russian-Austrian language school “Tandem-2021”
From July 19 to 30, 2021 an online summer language school “Tandem-2021” was successfully hosted by Moscow State Linguistic University. It was organized in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland with financial support from the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research of Austria.

UN — MSLU Memorandum: Meeting with the UN coordinator
On July 27, 2021, Anna Uspenskaya, UN coordinator of Training Programme for Candidates for the Competitive Language Examinations under the Memorandum of Understanding between the UN and MSLU, met with Larisa Petruchak, interim rector, vice-rector for education, and Irina Shokina, head of International cooperation and internationalization department, head of MSLU Training Programme for Candidates for the Competitive Language Examinations.

MSLU Up In Forbes University Ranking
MSLU has climbed in the fourth annual university ranking presented by Forbes Russia. The University has improved its overall score by 13,5 points. This year MSLU ranks 33rd (compared to 42nd in in 2020) among the top 100 universities in the list.

MSLU Ranks Among World’s Top Universities
Quacquarelli Symonds, an international ranking agency, has released the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021. The Rankings cover a total of 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas.

International Day of the Russian Language
On June 7, MSLU and the UN Information Center in Moscow held the III Scientific workshop "Russian language - a language that unites peoples" as part of the celebration of the Day of the Russian language, which is annually marked June 6, the birthday of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

Participation in the linguistic support of the visit of the UN Secretary General to Moscow
In May 2021, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres held talks with president Vladimir Putin, foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and spoke at the Valdai Discussion Club. Students and teachers of MSLU Faculty of Interpreting and Translation - students of the Programme for preparing for work in international organizations and competitive language exams contributed to linguistic support of the visit.

International Translation Model UN MSLU
On May 24-25, MSLU hosted the 1st International Translation Model UN MSLU, which simulated a meeting of the UN General Assembly on "Getting back on track after the COVID-19 pandemic: global efforts to make the Sustainable Development Goals attainable by 2030".

«Authentic Dialogue - 2021»: results and prospects
The international scientific and practical conference “Authentic Dialogue of Russia and Francophone World in the Sphere of Culture, Language and Literature” took place at MSLU on April 22-24 for the fourth time and was held in a mixed format (offline and in Google meet). More than 100 people took part in the conference, among them representatives of MSLU and top Russian and Foreign universities, speakers from France, India, Azerbaijan and Belarus.

Delegation of the Republic of Cuba visits MSLU
On April 14th representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation met with the direction of MSLU. The Cuban delegation was headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Julio Antonio Garmendia Pena, a graduate of Moscow State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages.

“English Humour vs. American Humor” project gala concert
On April 23rd in the assembly hall of MSLU the closing gala concert of the university-wide linguistic and area studies project dedicated to British and American humour titled “English Humour vs. American Humor” was held.

Slovenian Embassy delegation visits MSLU
On January 24th, for the first time, MSLU welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia in Moscow, Mr. Branko Rakovets.
