Meeting of Rectors of MSLU and Allameh Tabataba'i University (Iran)

On April 26, on the eve of the VI VI Forum of Rectors of the Universities of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran, MSLU Rector Irina Kraeva welcomed President of Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) Abdollah Motamedi, as well as Vice-President for Research of the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages of ATU and Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of expanding and deepening cooperation in the field of exchange of teachers and students, the results already achieved and prospects for the future, as well as plans for the joint development of the already existing network form for the implementation of the joint educational program "Geopolitical problems of the regions of Central Asia and the Caucasus", after completion of which students receive a MSLU diploma and a ATU diploma.

After the official meeting with Prof. Kraeva, the President of ATU met with ATU students who are now undergoing an internship at MSLU. Prof. Motamedi talked to the students, got to know their impressions about Russia and about studying at MSLU. He also visited the center of the language and culture of Iran, talked with MSLU students studying Persian.

Cooperation with Iran is extremely important for Russia. The Persian language has been taught at MSLU for 22 years. Allameh Tabataba'i University is one of the most important partners of MSLU, there is active cooperation in the field of student and teacher exchange and the double degree network program. MSLU graduates speaking the Persian language work at the Iranian embassy, MSLU students provide translation for the Iranian military at the participation in the annual International Army Games for several years, which gives them valuable experience in communicating with Iranian colleagues. Our graduates are involved in the implementation of civil and military programs in Russia and Iran. Some of our graduates work in Mir Business Bank jointly with Iran, branches of Iranian companies in Russia and Iran.

A second meeting of the rectors of MSLU and ATU is planned at the VI Forum of Rectors of the Universities of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
