Specialisation: International Political Analysis (regions of the world)

Study Mode: Full time

Duration: 4 academic years (240 ECTS)

Entry Criteria: Russian Certificate of Complete Secondary Education (or equivalent), with school-leaving Unified State Examination results in History, Foreign Language, and Russian

Programme Overview

Our 4-year Bachelor programme introduces the students to the study of political processes, economics, culture, society in the regions of the world. Students develop a conceptual and categorical apparatus in many areas of scientific knowledge, acquire basic knowledge about the patterns of processes occurring in the world, and also learn the basics of comparative analysis. The program allows you to combine your study of regional politics and culture with learning two foreign languages, one of them English. At the end of your studies you will give a viva presentation of your graduation research paper (Bachelor’s Thesis).

Course structure

Year 1

The first year focuses on developing your competence in Economic and Political studies. You will learn the History of the country of the region under study, as every student will have a particular region that he/she will be studying throughout all four years. You are also offered a number of other courses, such as Philosophy and History. In addition, you will develop your competence in your FL1, laying the foundation of FL2 (from the second semester) and refining your command of Russian.

Year 2

In the second year, you will develop your knowledge of such disciplines as International economics and the History of the region under study. These subjects are combined with intensive training in the two foreign languages.

Year 3

During the third year, you will dive deeper into the political and economic peculiarities of the region under study and continue to develop skills in spoken and written languages (FL1/ FL2). You will also study the Theory of international relations and have the course in Legal studies. The second semester is a time of your first four-week work placement period.

Year 4

In the fourth year, you will extend your studies further into specialist areas of regional political science, including constitutional law, diplomatic activities, foreign policy, regional and national security and etc. You will be allowed four weeks to complete your Bachelor’s Thesis.

Careers

On graduation, you can either continue your studies to get a Master’s Degree or go out to work and apply the skills acquired in international companies, diplomatic missions, public administration and political science institutions.
