Zhejiang University of International Studies Visits MSLU

On September 18, Innara Guseynova, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Work; Irina Shokina, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization; Ekaterina Pokholkova, Dean of the Translation and Interpreting Faculty, and Lola Rakhimbekova, Head of the Department of Chinese Language welcomed Mr. Mao Zhenhua, Vice-Rector for Science, Social Affairs and Cooperation, and Mr. Zhang Lupeng, Deputy Director of the Institute of European Languages ​​of Zhejiang University of International Studies.

Cooperation between MSLU and Zhejiang University of International Studies started as far back as in 2014. Over the past 6 years, over 30 students from each side have taken part in the inter-university exchange program. It is worth noting that 2025 will be an anniversary year for both universities: MSLU will celebrate 95 years, while Zhejiang University of International Studies 70 years.

In the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China and the declared Years of Culture of the two countries, the both parties noted the need to intensify inter-university cooperation in the following areas: joint training of postgraduate students, short-term exchanges of teachers of Russian and Chinese as a foreign language, invitations to participate in international educational exhibitions and cultural events. Zhejiang University of International Studies also presented its flagship project of the International Summer Camp, which will not only teach Chinese to students from all over the world, but also introduce them to Chinese culture. Representatives of MSLU declared their readiness to support such an initiative and consider the possibility of signing a corresponding agreement in the near future.

After the official part, guests from Zhejiang International Studies University met with Chinese exchange students who study Russian language and culture, and learned about the glorious history of MSLU.

Zhejiang International Studies University was founded in 1955 in Hangzhou, one of the most advanced and technologically developed megacities in China. The university teaches 14 foreign languages. The most popular educational programs are translation and translation studies, teaching foreign languages, intercultural communication, international economics, and tourism. Zhejiang International Studies University is one of 6 universities in the province where the Russian language is taught.
