MSLU students joined the celebration of Shab-e Yalda

On December 21, the Eastern Cultural Center of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted the celebration of Shab-e Yalda, one of the oldest Iranian holidays, which is celebrated on the day of the winter solstice. The history of the holiday goes back thousands of years, when Zoroastrianism was practiced in Persia. Yalda is the day of the victory of light over darkness and the forces of good over evil.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali and Head of the Cultural Representation of Iran Masood Ahmadvand delivered a speech at the event. The celebration was also attended by the director of the Iranian Language and Culture Center of MSLU Alexander Polishchuk and students of the fourth and third years of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of MSLU.
