On September 7, 2022, the UN Association of Russia and the Moscow State Linguistic University signed a cooperation agreement meant to achieve sustainable development goals, as well as to support education until 2030 on the territory of the Russian Federation. Alexei Borisov, First Deputy Chairman of the Association, Vice President of the United Nations World Federation of Associations, and Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow, visited our university was represented by Vice-Rector for Education Larisa Petruchak, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Work Innara Huseynova, Vice-Rector for Development and Digitalization Sergei Pilipenko, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization Irina Shokina and Dean of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting Ekaterina Pokholkova.

The UN Association of Russia is an international public organization created with the aim of "every possible assistance in achieving the goals and principles proclaimed by the UN Charter", as well as active participation "in building confidence and friendship between states and peoples". In 2021, the Association celebrated its 65th anniversary. The Russian United Nations Association includes more than forty collective members, and now our university is part of it.

One of the important aims of the Association is to support the implementation of the International Model UN in the Russian Federation. MSLU has already held two UN models, our model being the only one where the participants' speeches are simultaneously translated from the UN languages (English, French, Spanish and Russian) by our students of the Training Programme for Candidates for the Competitive Language Examinations.

The II MSLU Model became international as our exchange student from Iran took part in it.

As a member of the Association, MSLU will have the opportunity to be represented in the All-Russian Council of Model UN and take part as a partner in the Moscow International Model UN named after Vitaly Churkin, the largest Model UN in Russia. Students of member universities of the Association will be able to take part in volunteer programs and youth competitions. MSLU students will be able to apply their translation and interpreting skills in the program “Regions of Russia and Sustainable Development Goals”, which requires translation of reports and documents. In addition, our students will be able to provide linguistic support for visits to Russia by representatives of the United Nations.
