MSLU and Allame Tabatabai University (Iran) develop cooperation

MSLU and Allame Tabatabai University began a successful partnership signing Agreement on a double degree program for the educational program "Foreign Regional Studies".

At the request of the partner university Allame Tabatabai (ATU) in September-November 2020, Alexander Polishchuk, Associate Professor, Head of the Persian Sector of the Department of Oriental Languages of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, Honored Professor of Moscow State Linguistic University, held two webinars and a lecture for Iranian students at the ATU platform.

The webinars covered the problems and difficulties of translation from Persian into Russian, the cause of the difficulties and ways to overcome them, academic subjects and materials for the study of Persian as a foreign language based on teaching experience at MSLU. Prof. Polishchuk outlined the core points of the theory of translation of the Persian language and gave examples of the difficulties that arise when translating from Persian into Russian. One of the webinars was held jointly with Dr. Makhnaz Nouruzi, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language and Literature at ATU.

As part of the course, prof. Polishchuk delivered a lecture in Persian on the topic "The position of women in the socio-economic, political and cultural life of Russia: past and present."

Prof. Polishchuk noted that “the number of requests for webinars and lectures has increased significantly in recent months. I think that the increased interest in cooperation from Iranian universities is largely due to the transition to online education in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. "

In continuation of cooperation, it is planned to conduct an online lecture for students and teachers of MSLU by prof. Mandana Teshiyar, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of ATU. A master class "Translation of media texts from Persian into Russian" was held by Maryam Shafagi, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language at the University of Allame Tabatabai.
