MSLU Commemorates 110th Anniversary of Dr. Elisa Riesel

On October 13, a memorial event timed to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Professor Eliza G. Riesel, Doctor of Philology, was held in Austrian Library.

Dean of the Faculty of German Prof. G. Voronina, Prof. G. Fadeeva and Prof. T. Zorina spoke in tribute of Professor E. Riesel.

Colleagues, followers and university students came to commemorate the eminent philologist and stylist who had worked in Moscow State Linguistic University for over 20 years.

Elisa Riesel was the first to describe and codify the Austrian variant of the German language. Her scholarly works and textbooks, the majority of which are based on the theory of functional styles, are still widely used by students and professors.
