MSLU and Hungarian Embassy Discuss Academic Cooperation

MSLU and Hungarian Embassy Discuss Academic Cooperation
30.04.2025

On April 24, 2025, MSLU welcomed representatives of the Embassy of Hungary in the Russian Federation: Mr. András Marfi, Attaché for Science and Technology, and Mr. Sándor Kozlov, Cultural Advisor and Director of the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Center in Moscow.

The meeting followed up on agreements reached during the Russian-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Education in September 2024 and focused on expanding academic collaboration between MSLU and Hungarian universities.

Vice-Rector for International Affairs Vladimir Storozhev emphasized current bilateral agreements, opportunities for Hungarian students at MSLU, and prospects for academic mobility and joint research. Irina Shokina, Head of the International Cooperation Office, highlighted MSLU’s participation in the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, open to students across all faculties.

The Hungarian delegation expressed particular interest in MSLU’s unique educational offerings, including rare and regional language programs, as well as training in simultaneous interpretation. Elena Yuklyaeva, Acting Head of the Department of German and Translation Studies, presented new ideas for cooperation—such as a professional communication practicum—and shared details about the Hungarian language courses taught at MSLU.

The Embassy representatives praised the university’s high standards in language education and recognized the strong demand for graduates proficient in Hungarian. Special attention was given to the contribution of native speaker and MSLU alumnus Dániel Tóth, who currently teaches Hungarian and works as a professional translator.

The meeting concluded with plans for future activities, including visits to thesis defenses, participation in official university events, and direct engagement with prospective students of Hungarian language programs. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Russian-Hungarian cooperation in higher education and moving forward with the initiatives discussed.
