On April 3, 2025, Moscow State Linguistic University hosted the international conference “CIS Basic Organizations in the Humanitarian Sphere: Best Practices and Prospects for Cooperation”, marking the 25th anniversary of MSLU’s designation as the Basic Organization for Languages and Cultures of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The event brought together over 250 participants, including representatives of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the CIS Executive Committee, the Federation Council, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies of CIS countries, and partner universities across the region.
The conference served as a platform for educators, researchers, and policymakers to share best practices, explore new formats for international collaboration, and reflect on the role of basic organizations in a multilingual, multicultural, and multireligious world.
During the plenary session, 26 representatives delivered welcome remarks and academic presentations, highlighting MSLU’s leadership in linguistic education and international cooperation.
Since receiving its CIS Basic Organization status in 2000, MSLU has organized 157 major events, signed agreements with 46 partner universities, and facilitated exchange programs, joint research projects, and language and culture center initiatives across the region.
The conference concluded with a vibrant concert featuring student performers and cultural ensembles from CIS communities based in Moscow, celebrating the region’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
