On March 5, Moscow State Linguistic University welcomed Daniil Devyatkin, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in New York and a 2014 graduate of MSLU’s Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. His lecture, titled “A Success Story: UN Career Opportunities for MSLU Graduates”, explored pathways into international organizations.

Mr. Devyatkin provided an overview of the UN's structure and global mission, emphasizing the value of multilingualism and intercultural communication skills in international careers. He offered practical guidance on navigating UN job applications, explaining the recruitment process, key requirements, and tips for submitting strong applications.

Reflecting on his own professional journey—from working as a translator at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to joining the UN Mission—Devyatkin announced his upcoming appointment as a Human Resources Officer at the Secretariat of the International Civil Service Commission.

He also noted that many MSLU graduates work across the UN system, including alumni of the university’s Training Programme for Candidates for the Competitive Language Examinations. The lecture sparked an engaging discussion with students, underscoring their strong interest in global careers and the continued relevance of MSLU’s international focus.
