Russian-Mexican Relations
On November 12, MSLU hosted the International Workshop “Russian-Mexican Relations: Issues and Prospects.” It was attended by 250 participants, including representatives of six Latin American countries.
In her opening address, MSLU Rector Irina Kraeva said that Russia and Mexico continue to respond to the challenges of globalization that pose a threat to international peace and security and coordinate efforts within the G-20. She stressed that the research and academic communities should join their efforts to contribute to this and expressed hope that the workshop sponsored by MSLU and the Embassy of the United Mexican States in Moscow will serve the purpose.
H.E.Ambassador Norma Bertha Pensado Moreno, Ambassador of Mexico to Russia, noted that Russia and Mexico face no issues of controversy. The Mexican government is committed to strengthening and developing the friendly relations of the two countries which should continue to step up their efforts in finding new areas for bilateral cooperation.
Among the keynote speakers  was V.Morozov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mexico in 2005-2012, A.Manukhin, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and A.Landbaso Angulo from the Centre for Ibero-American Programmes.
The participants and guests spoke highly of  the presentations made by MSLU students and thanked the organizers for their efforts in arranging the workshop.
