MSLU Hosts International Conference “Italian Language in Russia: Networking Among Universities”

On October 15-17, MSLU hosted the International Conference “The Italian Language in Russia: Networking Cooperation Among Universities.” It is a joint project  of  Moscow State Linguistic University  (MSLU), the Russian State University for Humanities (RGGU), and the Italian Cultural Institute, Moscow. The project is aimed at promoting the Italian language and culture in Russia, expanding academic and research partnerships as well as teaching and learning Italian in the digital age.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks from His Excellency Mr. Pasquale Terracciano, Italian Ambassador to Russia; Marina Borovskaya, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education (RF); Alexey Paramonov, Director of the First European Department at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mark Kalinin, Head of the Department of Cooperation in Education and Science at Rossotrudnichestvo, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation; Olga Strada, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow; Dr. Vera  Zabotkina, Vice-Rector (RGGU); Giuseppe Lo Porto, Head of the Education Department of the Consulate-General of the Italian Republic in Russia; and Francesca Romana Memoli, President of the Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language (ASILS).
The programme included presentations of leading Italian and Russian researchers and educators, master classes and round table discussions for university professors, school teachers, university and high school students from all across Russia.
