MSLU Holds Trial Arabic Language Olympiad for Students

On 20–21 May, Moscow State Linguistic University with the support of the Arab Dream Foundation, hosted a trial Arabic language Olympiad for MSLU students. The competition brought together students eager to demonstrate their language skills, text analysis abilities, and the art of Arabic calligraphy.

The Olympiad became an important step in promoting Arabic language and culture among students and strengthening academic and cultural ties with the Arab world. The winners received diplomas and monetary prizes, while all participants were awarded certificates. The top three places were awarded to students of MSLU’s Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. The jury included MSLU faculty members and representatives of the Arab Dream Foundation.

Opening the award ceremony, MSLU Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Activities Innara Guseinova emphasized the importance of the initiative as an opportunity for students to test their knowledge and deepen their understanding of Arabic language and culture. She also highlighted the commitment of those who took part in the competition during a demanding period of the academic year.

Mohamed Mehrez Othman, Counsellor at the Embassy of Tunisia in the Russian Federation, noted that language serves as a bridge connecting cultures and peoples. Samaha Bashir Abbas, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities and Director of the Arab Dream Foundation, stressed that the competition went beyond language skills, becoming a platform for cultural dialogue and friendship between Russia and the Arab world.
