Traditional Vietnam Day Held at MSLU

On 22 May, Moscow State Linguistic University hosted the V Traditional Vietnam Day, dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 136th anniversary of the birth of Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh.

In her welcoming address, MSLU Rector Irina Kraeva highlighted the University’s long-standing ties with Vietnam, which date back to the 1960s, when MSLU began training specialists from the country. In recognition of its contribution to the education and training of highly qualified professionals, MSLU was awarded the Vietnamese Friendship Order in 2018. Since the launch of Vietnamese language studies at MSLU in 2017, the programme has achieved significant results and continues to develop.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Russia Dang Minh Khoi sent a greeting letter, expressing appreciation for MSLU’s contribution to promoting Vietnamese language and culture.

The event brought together students and faculty members from Moscow universities where Vietnamese is taught, Vietnam studies experts, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia. Vietnamese students studying at MSLU prepared a cultural programme for the guests. The audience enjoyed vocal, musical, and dance performances, followed by a presentation of a collection of traditional áo dài costumes by designer Nguyen Thuy Linh. The fashion show featured students studying Vietnamese at MSLU and the Institute of Asian and African Studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
