MSLU Welcomes Experts from Russia and China for II International Conference on Language Education

On 19 June, Moscow State Linguistic University hosted the II International Scientific and Practical Conference "Language Education in Russian and Chinese Universities: Approaches, Technologies, and Practices." The event was held within the framework of the Alliance of Chinese-Russian Language Education Universities and brought together researchers, educators, and language teaching professionals from leading universities in Russia and China.

Opening the conference, Larisa Petruchak, First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Education at MSLU, emphasized the growing interdisciplinary nature of modern linguistics. She noted that contemporary language education extends far beyond phonetics, grammar, and translation, integrating cognitive science, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence to prepare specialists for an increasingly interconnected world.

In a video address, Jing Liqiang, Vice President of Heilongjiang University, reaffirmed the Chinese side's commitment to expanding cooperation through the Alliance. He highlighted the shared goal of developing the Alliance into a leading platform for humanitarian and academic exchanges between Russia and China while fostering internationally minded language professionals with strong intercultural communication skills.

The plenary session focused on the integration of linguistics, cognitive science, and digital technologies. The conference programme also featured three thematic sections covering Chinese studies and translation, fundamental linguistics, and Russian studies. Participants discussed the use of artificial intelligence in language teaching, multilingual education, Confucius Institutes as a driver of academic cooperation, contemporary linguistic research, innovative methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, and new models for training Russian–Chinese simultaneous interpreters.
