MSLU Hosts International Conference “English Studies in the 21st Century”

From 23 to 25 October, MSLU hosted the Third International Scientific Conference “English Studies in the 21st Century: Continuity of Academic Schools and Generations”, held in honor of the university’s 95th anniversary. The programme included two plenary sessions with leading linguists, a corpus linguistics workshop, six panel discussions and three master classes.

Participants explored a wide range of topics—from cognitive and corpus linguistics, semantics and syntax to innovative approaches in language teaching. Reports highlighted both micro-level linguistic analysis and broader transformations in education in the digital era, as well as the growing role of interdisciplinary, multimodal and quantitative research methods.

Key emerging trends included corpus-based research, multimodality, training in audio description, gamification in teaching and linguistic synergetics.

The conference brought together 81 speakers representing universities and research institutions across Russia.
