MSLU hosted the regional qualifying stage of the All-Russian “StudRussia” competition for international students of higher educational institutions. The event was organized by the National University of Science and Technology MISIS with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The competition aims to recognize international students who demonstrate outstanding achievements in science, creativity, sports, community engagement and volunteering. This year, 12 winners and two Grand Prix holders in the category “Best International Student” were selected. They will advance to the national finals taking place from 20 November to 10 December.
As a co-organizer, MSLU welcomed 140 participants representing 57 universities across 14 regions of the Central Federal District, including Moscow and the Moscow Region.
The contest brought together students from 33 countries, underscoring its global reach. Participants came from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Vietnam, Haiti, Ghana, Egypt, Zambia, Yemen, India, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Cameroon, China, Congo, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Montenegro and Ecuador.
In her opening address delivered via video, Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, expressed gratitude to MSLU for its significant contribution to hosting the competition. She also commended the international students for their courage and motivation to take part in the event, noting that their participation reflects a high level of academic ambition and cultural openness.
