On February 13, Moscow MSLU proudly hosted the presentation of the unique fairy tale book Legends of the Stone Giants. The event, organized in collaboration with the Rosa Khutor Mountain Resort, Meshcheryakov Publishing House, and the Eurasian Community of Tourism Industry Specialists (ESOT), highlighted the university's expertise in translation and cultural studies.
The book, published earlier this year, brings together fairy tales from across Eurasia, all connected by the common theme of mountains—an integral part of the continent’s geography and culture. Many of the featured countries are home to thriving mountain resorts, making the collection a celebration of both folklore and modern tourism.
A distinctive feature of the book is its multilingual format. Each fairy tale is presented in both Russian and its original language, including Azerbaijani, Armenian, Belarusian, Georgian, Chinese, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, and Uzbek. The translations were carried out by MSLU faculty members, ensuring linguistic authenticity and cultural nuance.
With a limited print run of 1,000 copies, Legends of the Stone Giants offers readers timeless stories of friendship, loyalty, love, and perseverance. These tales emphasize the eternal struggle between good and evil, with mountains serving as both a symbol of challenges to overcome and a guiding force toward destiny. The collection stands as a testament to the enduring power of storytelling in uniting diverse cultures through shared narratives.
