From May 19 to 26, MSLU took part in the 19th International Media Forum “Dialogue of Cultures,” held in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The university was represented by faculty members and students specializing in the languages and cultures of the CIS and neighboring regions.
The MSLU delegation included Dmitry Belyakov, Director of the Institute of International Relations and Social and Political Sciences, along with faculty members Armine Martirosyan and Assol Ovsyannikova. Students proficient in a wide range of languages — including Azerbaijani, Armenian, Belarusian, Georgian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Romanian, Uzbek, English, Spanish, Turkish, Serbian, Italian, and French — participated as presenters and interpreters. For the first time, media coverage for the MSLU delegation was provided by a student journalist, Veronika Zelmanchuk.
The forum was organized by the Media Congress “Commonwealth of Journalists,” the State Hermitage Museum, and other partners with support from the Presidential Grants Foundation, the Russian World Foundation, and the Government of St. Petersburg. This year, the forum welcomed over 300 young journalists and bloggers from 85 Russian regions and 35 countries.
At the official opening in Moscow, MSLU students welcomed guests in multiple regional languages and recited poetry commemorating World War II. Later in St. Petersburg, at the Hermitage Theatre, they hosted an interactive multilingual session that showcased their linguistic skills and cultural fluency.
During their visit to St. Petersburg, the MSLU team met with leadership at the Leningrad Region House of Friendship to discuss future collaboration on social and cultural projects. Students also toured the historic building and explored its interactive exhibits on national cultures.
