27.05.2025
On May 23, MSLU hosted its 4th annual Vietnam Day, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and Vietnam and commemorating the 135th anniversary of Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh. This year’s theme was “From the Spring of Liberation to the Light of Peace.”

In her opening remarks, MSLU Rector Irina Kraeva highlighted the university’s long-standing ties with Vietnam, dating back to the 1960s. In recognition of its contribution to training Vietnamese specialists, MSLU was awarded the Vietnam Order of Friendship in 2018. Vietnamese language teaching was launched at MSLU in 2017.

Mai Nguyen Thuyet Hoa, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, thanked MSLU for promoting Vietnamese language and culture. Renowned Southeast Asia expert Elena Yakovleva also spoke, noting the importance of the recent visit to Moscow by Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam.

Vietnamese students at MSLU prepared a vibrant concert featuring patriotic music and dance, modern songs, and a traditional quan họ performance recognized by UNESCO. The event also included a quiz and a fashion show of evening gowns by Vietnamese designer Nguyen Thuy Linh, modeled by students of MSLU, MSU, and the Diplomatic Academy.

The celebration concluded with a tasting of traditional Vietnamese dishes prepared by MSLU’s international students from Vietnam.
