On July 11, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to the Russian Federation Ramon Alejandro Arias Zarzuela and Minister-Counselor Lalia Concepcion Gonzalez Cornelio visited MSLU.
The guests were greeted by Rector Irina Kraeva, Head of the Office of International Cooperation Irina Shokina, and Director of the Center for Ibero-American Programs Jan Burlyai.
The meeting took place on the initiative of the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic, who expressed extreme interest in establishing cooperation between MSLU and higher educational institutions of the Dominican Republic. The prospects for scientific and educational cooperation and teamwork were discussed at the meeting.
The rector of MSLU, in particular, told the guest that more than 1000 MSLU students study Spanish as a first, second or third foreign language, with many of them specializing in Latin American varieties of Spanish.
MSLU pays special attention to training specialists for the rapidly developing sphere of hotel business and tourism. Here we see opportunities for both academic exchange and mutual internships for students in hotel chains of both countries. Our university already has an example of effective cooperation in this area: students undergoing internships at universities in the Republic of Cuba have the opportunity to do internships in leading hotels in Varadero.
