Hanoi University becomes a new partner of MSLU

On April 18, at the Second Forum of Rectors of Russian and Vietnamese universities, a solemn ceremony was held to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation and a Student exchange Agreement between MSLU and Hanoi University, one of Vietnam's leading universities in the field of language education. They will expand academic and scientific cooperation with Vietnamese universities and open up new opportunities for students, teachers and researchers from both universities.

Before that, on April 16, the Rector of MSLU Irina Kraeva met with a delegation of Hanoi University at the University, which included Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of Hanoi University Luong Ngoc Minh, Dean of the Faculty of the Russian Language Cuong Thi Phuong Thanh, Secretary of the Rector Nguyen Quoc Minh and Deputy Head of the HR Department Wu Thi Bang. The event was attended by Olga Iriskhanova, Vice-Rector for Science at MSLU, Vladimir Storozhev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Irina Shokina, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization, Ekaterina Pokholkova, Dean of the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation, and Elena Zubtsova, an Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Languages.

Vietnamese has been taught at MSLU since 2017 at the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation, and since 2022 at the Faculty of the English Language. Thus, 5 groups studying it have already graduated from our university, while most pass the state exam with flying colours. Our graduates teach it at other Russian universities.

Currently, 46 students are studying Vietnamese at MSLU. They have repeatedly won All-Russian olympiads and competitions, teams from MSLU traditionally win quizzes on knowledge of the Vietnamese language and culture on the days of Vietnam, work as translators at International Army Games and at events of the Russian-Vietnamese Friendship Society.

Among the Vietnamese graduates of MSLU there is a large number of prominent civil servants who hold leading positions in embassies, ministries, radio and television in that country. Currently, more than 80 undergraduate and specialist students, graduates and postgraduates from Vietnam are studying at MSLU, the most popular areas of study among them are "International Relations", "Foreign Regional Studies", "Translation and Translation Studies", "Theory and methodology of teaching foreign languages and cultures", "Linguistics and intercultural Communication", "Theory and practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language."

MSLU has long-standing and strong relations with Vietnamese universities. Our partners include the Institute of Foreign Languages at Hanoi State University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Vietnamese National University in Hanoi, the International Francophone Institute at the Vietnamese National University in Hanoi and the Hanoi branch of the Pushkin Institute of the Russian Language. Educational and scientific cooperation is carried out on the basis of agreements. In the last six years, MSLU has sent 24 students to Vietnam for an internship.
