Subcommittee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation with the DPRK Meets at MSLU

On May 14, the eighth meeting of the Subcommittee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was held at the Moscow State Linguistic University.

Rector Irina Kraeva and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Vladimir Storozhev welcomed representatives of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Academy of Sciences, research centers and universities as well as the delegation of North Korean partners headed by the director of the Department of External Scientific and Technical Cooperation of the State Committee for Science and Technology Han Hyun Woo.

“We are pleased that cooperation with the DPRK in the educational sphere is strengthening. Our university has been welcoming international students for almost 70 years, and we currently have 10 students from North Korea. We have already twice taken part in organizing Russian language Olympiads in the DPRK,” noted MSLU rector.

The meeting was still another step towards strengthening scientific and technical ties between the two countries. The parties exchanged information on state policy in the field of scientific and technological development, identified promising areas of cooperation and outlined specific steps towards their implementation. Concluding the meeting, the guests noted the high level of hospitality.
