William Shakespeare’s Theme Night at MSLU

30.05.2017
On May 12th, a theme night devoted to William Shakespeare’s heritage took place at the MSLU conference hall. The event was organized for the third time by the MSLU Centre of the English Language and Culture and the Macmillan representative office in Moscow. This year, more than 45 students and faculty members from the Faculty of English Language, the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting and the Faculty of Extramural Studies took part in the preparations for the concert.
The concert included more than 20 different performances, which were inspired by the heritage of the great poet and playwright, ranging from monologues from Sharespeare's plays and Irish dances to an interactive quiz.
Natalia D. Tokareva, head of the Centre of the English Language and Culture, said: “Shakespeare’s works are not only a part of the curriculum; they perform a very important function of enlightenment, which goes far beyond the required reading. One cannot help noticing the students’ enthusiasm and profound interest in performing, which did not leave the audience indifferent.”
