MSLU Celebrates Victory Day

On May 4th, WWII veterans, local municipal officials, MSLU staff members and students of the University and the Pre-University College gathered in front of the main building around the monument dedicated to those who fought in the 5th Militia Division during the war, to celebrate 72 years of the great Victory in a solemn commemorative ceremony.

The Sirius historical search and discovery group made up of the University's students offered a display of military artifacts going back to the time of World War II, while the students who undergo military training as part of their curriculum demonstrated some modern standard weapons of the Army of the Russian Federation. Another army-related experience that all of those present could share in was tasting buckwheat porridge, a staple of WWII field kitchen.

To complete the event, the choir of the German Language Department conducted by Leonid Pavlov, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, sang several wartime songs.

The outdoor event was followed by a concert of student talents in the great hall of the University.
