MGLU Hosts a Meeting with Brazilian Ambassador and Screens Film ‘Simonal’

The Brazilian Embassy in Moscow, the Cinema Club project and MSLU have organized a lecture delivered by Ambassador Rodrigo Baena Soares and a showing of the movie ‘Simonal’.

The film tells the story of the life and work of Wilson Simonal, the greatest singing voice of all time in Brazilian musical history. Having traveled a brilliant path from poverty to national fame, he found himself involved in a scandal when in the 1970s his extravagant tastes and explosive temperament attracted the attention of the intelligence services. The film was followed by a discussion, during which Andre Joao Ripple, Second Secretary of the Embassy, answered questions from students of Portuguese at the MSLU Translation Faculty and the English Language Faculty.
