MSLU Professors Participate in Istanbul International MUN
Andrei Dzhunkovsky, head of the Department of Applied and Experimental Linguistics, and Aleksandra Melina, a postgraduate student of the Department, took part in the Model UN, organized by Best Diplomats in Istanbul.
There they presided over the General Assembly, with the theme "Preventing Genocide, War Crimes, Ethnic Cleansing and Crimes against Humanity”. Aleksandra simultaneously performed the function of MUN Secretary General. At the opening ceremony, she addressed the delegates with a welcoming speech, as did the Ambassadors of South Korea, Sierra Leone, the Deputy Head of Mission of Ethiopia, the Consuls General of Bulgaria and Sudan, the Honorary Consul of Vietnam, and representatives of various non-profit organizations. Prior to the event, representatives of the department prepared an expert report on the agenda in English and remotely held several training sessions on the procedural rules, so that the delegates could get a better grounding for the conference. At the MUN event, they moderated the meeting and ensured that its participants stick to the agenda. Based on the event results, they selected Best Delegate, one who delivered the best performance during the committee's work.
