Jai Hind: 75 Apple Trees to Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence
18.08.2022
The Rector of the Moscow State Linguistic University Irina Kraeva and the Head of Department for International Cooperation and Internationalization Irina Shokina took part in a large-scale ethnic festival Day of India.
The festival is dedicated to a key milestone in modern history of India: on the night of August 14-15, 1947, India became an independent state. The festival opening took place in the landscape garden Ostrov Mechty. To celebrate the date, Mr. Pavan Kapoor, the Ambassador of India to Russia, planted an apple tree and thereby laid the foundation of an apple orchard, which symbolizes Russian-Indian close friendship. In total, 75 apple trees were planted at the festival site to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence and the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moscow and New Delhi. The green action was also attended by the Rector of the University Irina Kraeva and the Head of Department for International Cooperation and Internationalization Irina Shokina.
