MSLU and British Council launch bilateral cooperation

07.12.2016

5 December 2016 MSLU's Centre for International Cooperation and the Faculty of English hosted a meeting and discussion with a delegation of the British Council, the UK's international organization for expanding cooperation in the fields of education, arts and culture between the people of the U.K. and other countries.

It has been in Russia for more than twenty years contributing to bilateral relations and promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries. Both parties focused on the importance of partnership in education, especially in English language teaching.

The British Council has numerous English language proficiency tools, which opens up a lot of opportunities for collaboration. Aptis for Teachers, designed specifically to evaluate the English language skills in the educational sector, is one of them. It can be integrated into existing assessment systems and managed locally, enabling universities and schools to track their teachers' English levels over time and to measure the success of their training programmes. After taking the test, the candidates will receive a British Council Certificate with an overall score.

MSLU is eager to invite British Council experts to give talks, seminars, and master-classes. Both parties also agreed to continue consultations over language exchange programmes for students as well as professional training programmes for the faculties of UK universities and MSLU.
