MSLU hosts Martin Reeves’ lecture
On December 8th as a part of the “Translation environment” project, MSLU held a meeting with the American writer and co-author of the book titled “Machine of Imagination” Martin Reeves. The translation of the book into Russian was carried out by a team of students, teachers and graduates of Moscow State Linguistic University with the support of BCG and the “Prosveshchenie” publishing house.
In his book Martin Reeves, ex-scientist and now Managing Director of the BCG Henderson Institute, created a step-by-step guide to using imagination in business. At the meeting Mr. Reeves spoke of things that inspired him to write the book, showed examples of what many great modern companies started with, advocated for the importance of imagination. The highlight of the event was the meeting of the author with the team of the book translators, which comprised 18 students of the evening education. The work of the students was supervised by the head of the translation department of BCG, a graduate of the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation Arsen Lazursky and a teacher of the Department of Translation Studies and Practice of English Translation Denis Yershov.
Moreover, at the meeting a film
directed by students of the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation, dedicated to this unique cooperation of BCG, the “Prosveschenie” Publishing House and MSLU was demonstrated. The inspirers and participants of the project as well as the dean of the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation Ekaterina Pokholkova and Head of MSLU Career Development Centre Tatiana Akilina showcased their experience in the film.
Martin Reeves expressed his utmost desire to write a sequel and the representatives of MSLU and the “Prosveschenie” publishing house expressed their willingness to take part in its translation and publication.
