Moscow State Linguistic University is committed to active engagement with its local community, schools, governmental and non-governmental organisations and the public in general. This is done in a variety of ways, such as:
Our lecturers and researchers lend their knowledge and expertise to a wide range of organisations to help them become more competitive. This includes customised corporate language training for employees of major banks and companies or in-service training programmes for language teachers, teacher trainers, applied linguists, spoken and sign language interpreters, conference interpreters, translators, etc.
In 2016, MSLU launched an educational project for young language learners to help them improve their language skills beyond the standard school curriculum. Language enthusiasts aged 13 -17 can take part in the Annual Language Competition for Schools in English, French, German, Spanish or Chinese. The winners are awarded with a study trip abroad or a secured place with one of the university language faculties.
MSLU has also hosted international language proficiency examinations for external students in French (DELF, DALF), German (Test−DaF) and Chinese (HSK).
The university contributes generously to the intellectual, cultural and social life of Moscow through conferences, public lectures, competitions and performances. The university can boast three student theatres performing in Russian, English and French, and two choirs, one of them the award-winning Musica Langue.
Some students and staff are involved in school career days encouraging local schoolchildren to aim for university.
The newly-established Student Centre for Extra-Curricular Activities has been instrumental in launching several student volunteering schemes, for instance, blood donating or charity initiatives. The Student Centre initiatives are open to all current students and staff who are both interested in serving the community and keen on personal development. The Centre looks to host projects, events and civic engagements that promote equal opportunities and inclusion.
