Library
The University has had a library ever since it opened in 1930.
Today, the library – or, more officially, the MSLU Information and Resource Centre – has over 600,000 books, journals and other publications issued both in Russia and elsewhere. They include:
- Academic and scholarly books and works of fiction in Russian, European and Asian languages, in paper and electronic form;
- Books on Linguistics, Foreign Language Teaching, the History of Languages and Translation/Interpreting;
- General and specialised dictionaries, encyclopedias and reference books;
- A rare collection of 19th century encyclopedias, dictionaries and works of literature in French, English, German and the classical languages;
More than 3,000 theses and dissertations written and defended at MSLU and some 4,000 abstracts of theses and dissertations defended elsewhere in Russia.
The Information and Resource Centre also offers access to Electronic Resources (online and off-line scholarly publication databases) and the MSLU Electronic Library (a catalogue of the University's library resources searchable by author, title, year, key words, etc.).
