Delegation of the Republic of Cuba in MSLU

On March 13, MSLU welcomed Reinaldo Velazquez Saldivar, Deputy Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba; Iliana Martinez Gonzalez, Deputy Head of the Office of International Relations of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba; and Gustavo Jose Cobreiro Suarez, Education and Science Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation.

MSLU representatives were Rector Irina Kraeva, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Vladimir Storozhev, Vice-Rector for Development and Digitalization Sergei Pilipenko, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization Irina Shokina, and Acting Director of the Institute of Information Sciences Alexandra Vanichkina.

MSLU rector noted that Cuban universities have a great interest in cooperation with our university, and our students look forward to internships in Cuba. She added that the uniqueness of our university is that the Spanidh language is studied not only by interpreters and translators, but also lawyers, information security and hotel business specialists. Reynaldo Velazquez Saldivar said that Cuba needs more specialists with knowledge of the Russian language in various fields of activity, in particular in tourism services. In this regard, the parties discussed the development of advanced training programs for representatives of Cuban universities, primarily teachers of Russian as a foreign language. During the meeting, they also discussed the development of student and teacher mobility programs within the framework of signed agreements and the organization of educational practice for students. MSLU is increasing the pace of cooperation: the numbers of outgoing and incoming academic and scientific mobility are growing. In addition, the meeting participants discussed the prospects for developing a network cooperation program, which is a combination of full-time and distance learning formats.

After the meeting, the representatives of the Cuban delegation were given a tour of the historical building of MSLU.
